The blondie is a golden boy, indeed.
USMNT midfielder Stuart Holden isn’t just an affable star soccer player in England who has a gorgeous girlfriend. He’s also built for loyalty. To his club. Even if they drop out of the premiership.
Speaking at length to the Bolton News, the injured Holden said that he was very happy with the greater Manchester-area club and wouldn’t leave this summer if they were relegated on Sunday.
From the Bolton News:
“I have a firm belief that won’t change until the last whistle of the last game that Bolton Wanderers will remain in the Premier League,” (Holden) told The Bolton News.
“There’s nothing I can do and that’s the hardest part for me. I can’t affect the results on the pitch in terms of playing.
“But I am happy at Bolton Wanderers and I know that this is the right place for me.
“I’m a part of this club and you live and die by that. You ride the high waves and you ride the low ones.
“You can’t start thinking two steps ahead because you can only really affect the present.
“We have the characters, the quality and the right people in charge to steer the ship right.”
Bolton is currently in 18th place and in the relegation zone with 35 points through 37 matches. The club’s final match is Sunday at Stoke City. If Bolton wins and 17th-place Queens Park Rangers loses, then Bolton stays afloat. If QPR manages a draw, however, then Bolton likely goes down regardless of whether they top Stoke, due to goal differential (they trail QPR by a -9 differential).
QPR have a tough final match, however, as they travel to Man City, who can secure the EPL title with a win. So it’s quite likely that Bolton will stay afloat with a win.
